Our program for x-ray covers an annual, complete check of each x-ray tube at your facility as required by the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Hospital Organizations (JCAHO). This includes not only those parameters regulated by the State of Florida Department of Environmental Health (DEH) such as: timer accuracy, kVp, output linearity, reproducibility, automatic exposure control, leakage and scatter radiation, collimator alignment, and fluoroscopic exposure rate; but also image quality parameters such as image sharpness, low contrast detectability, resolution, etc. We also measure the typical patient exposures. These surveys cover all JCAHO requirements for diagnostic imaging equipment performance monitoring. All the measurements will be done at least once each year and whenever a major repair is performed or x-ray tube is replaced or any problem is suspected with an imaging system.
